Jumpstart

Jumpstart is a program designed to provide Year 10 students with the opportunity to develop employability skills, to help students identify a suitable career pathway and provide them with real world experience in their chosen career pathways. These programs support students to develop their workplace skills and knowledge in a secure and supported environment whilst continuing their secondary school education. There are two options for Jumpstart courses.

JumpStart Careers
JumpStart Careers provides a unique opportunity for students to combine an Endorsed Program called “Coaching Young People for Success – Career Coaching Module” with a Workplace Learning experience one-day per week off campus (student sourced). The Career Coaching Module instructs students on how to design their own inspiring Life and Career Pathway Plan that matches their vision, values and aspirations. Students will learn how to develop personal effectiveness, communicate in the workplace, complete a First Aid certificate, and develop an action plan for career planning.

The Workplace Learning component of this course enables students to gain credit towards their WACE certification (55 - 109 hours = 1 unit, 110 - 164 hours = 2 units).
 
This course is suitable to students looking to identify a career/study pathway for their Senior School years and beyond. This course runs for one semester and an elective cost applies to this course which will be added to the school fees.
 
JumpStart Trades
JumpStart Trades provides a unique opportunity for students to combine practical trade skills with a Workplace Learning experience one-day per week off campus (student sourced). This course will provide students with basic skills for beginning work in trade-based industries. Students will learn essential work, health, and safety requirements and develop skills in communication, work planning, use of tools and materials. During this course students will attain their White Card and complete a First Aid course preparing them for work in a Trades-Based industry. The Workplace Learning component of this course enables students to gain credit towards their WACE certification (55 - 109 hours = 1 unit, 110 - 164 hours = 2 units).
 
This course is suitable to students who like to work with their hands and are interested in pursuing a trade-based pathway for their Senior School years and beyond. This course runs for one semester and an elective cost applies to this course which will be added to the school fees.
