Faith and Life Programs
Nagle is committed to providing a Christ centred community that inspires students to live out the Gospel Values, following the examples of Nano Nagle and Edmund Rice to be For Others, and be open to exploring their own faith journey.
What we do:
Actively provide faith filled experiences and times of reflection through daily prayer, regular liturgical celebrations and retreat experiences.
Plan, develop and deliver religious education experiences to all students, in line with CEWA curriculum documents, that enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith.
Implement a community service learning program that encourages all students to readily seek and participate in appropriate volunteer work in the home, College, parish and wider community.
Provide and promote opportunities for all students to develop and participate in the concept of servant leadership.
Enhance a sense of charity within our community through identifying organisations to support through awareness and fund raising initiatives as part of our College Charity Plan.
RETREATS
Retreats form an important part of our College's Faith and Life program and is one of the ways we try to grow students as a whole person. They allow students to ‘retreat’ away from the normal school environments to give themselves time to focus on important issues and reflect on their lives. Through a range of activities, students are able to demonstrate talents and gifts that are not always obvious during the school day.
Year 7 ‘Ignite the Flame’: The Year 7 Retreat experience connects students more deeply with high school life and brings them into closer relationships with other people with whom they share their journey. Our students are encouraged to see themselves as pilgrims setting out on a journey, to help them find meaning and purpose in their lives and perhaps grow their relationship with God.
Year 8 ‘Light the Way’: The Light the Way Retreat builds on the pilgrim spirit started in Year 7, with reflection and activities focused on their journey so far and how they can contribute to the College and wider community
Year 9 ‘Shine the Light’: The Year 9 Retreat is about examining relationships and discovering who we are, and what we can offer the world. A key feature is to understand how serving others can significantly impact personal growth. Service learning and time for reflection are key components of the Retreat experience.
Year 10 ‘Illuminate the Path’: The focus of the Year 10 Retreat is to bring about a sense of peace and indeed ‘rest for the soul” as they make their choices. It is a time for students to commit to themselves and the College as a whole person. The Retreat is a time to focus on the path ahead and what support they require in choosing their ‘right path’.
Year 11 ‘Carry the Lantern’: Our Year 11 Retreat enables students to look at the qualities of leadership and how they can be the best Christian example to others. They will soon be accepting the mantle of responsible leadership at the College. This Retreat sees our students visit the local primary schools and run activities with the younger students, engaging them and giving back to the community that helps them grow.
Year 12 ‘One Step Beyond’: Over the three days / two nights Retreat at Nukara Farm, the Year 12 students reflect upon where they have come from, where they are at present and where they are headed. This Retreat is a particularly special one as it is one of the last times the students are together as a Year group and they receive special affirmations from family and friends as they journey into life beyond school.
NAGLE CARE - CHRISTIAN SERVICE LEARNING
Nagle Catholic College is committed to its motto, ‘For Others’, not just in words but in action. Jesus in the Gospels reminded his followers that he came to serve and not to be served. Therefore, the College has designed the ‘Nagle Care Program’ to enable students to live out our school motto and the value of servanthood modelled by Christ.
The Nagle Care Program is designed to encourage students to seek out, organise and participate in community service appropriate for their age and ability. It also allows students who are already performing community service, to be recognised and acknowledged for this service. The hours students do will be recorded and appear on their end of year academic reports, so they have a record and can use this on resumes and applications for work or university in the future.

BEACON SERVANT LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The Beacon Servant Leadership Program is designed to help selected students in Year 10 grow their leadership and become servant leaders, ready for future opportunities in senior school. It is centred around the idea that leaders are called to be in service of others. A leader at Nagle Catholic College is someone that ought to embody the College Motto of being 'For Others'.
The program endeavours to provide experiences and projects where the students are given opportunities to develop:
• Organisation skills
• Communication skills
• Public speaking
• Emotional intelligences
• Teamwork and collaboration skills
• Networking
