Enabling programs are normally accessed by students after they finish their Year 12 studies however, Nagle and Curtin University have entered into a partnership that allows for the College to deliver the UniReady Program to Year 12 students.
UniReady is an ‘alternative entry to Curtin University’ run by the university and facilitated by Nagle staff. Students complete ATAR or General English, Religious Education, a certificate course and another course of their choice alongside four UniReady units, two units each semester. Upon completion of the UniReady Program, students are awarded a notional ATAR of 70, which can then be used to satisfy the entry criteria to a range of degrees at Curtin. Feedback from our Year 12 students on the UniReady Course.
I enjoy the UniReady course as it is a great medium between ATAR and General, that will still get me to university, and give me all the skills I will need to use at university. The course is easily accessible with all the resources and information there to help you learn the content.
~ Denby
I joined UniReady as it was a nice medium between ATAR and General. The online aspect of this course fits well with my learning style, allowing me to work at the best of my ability.
~ Ethan
After deciding to not continue on an ATAR Pathway, I planned on completing a bridging course after school, but UniReady gave me the opportunity to complete that sooner rather than later.
~ Heather
Upon starting this school year, I had multiple doubts on my pathway to university. What I enjoy about UniReady is that I have a second chance in my educational pathway. It has guaranteed a stable foundation for a career and it provides me with a greater familiarity in skills that are essential in achieving a degree. I enjoy the learning aspect of the course when completing work at a personal pace, and prioritising deadlines. It encourages individuals like me to embrace progressiveness and to take every opportunity that comes. Ultimately, to work to the best of my ability when being granted with assessments and tests. Overall, I am very appreciative to be a part of the UniReady Program as it is helping me develop a growing mindset of achieving goals, and it is providing me with a great introduction to university.
~ Tupou
I enjoy being a part of the UniReady Program as it allows students who have outside school commitments to find that in-between workload and being through Blackboard we always have access to the work. Along with still having the opportunity to attend university, if that's what you choose to do.
~ Heidi
I think the UniReady Program is a great new concept of learning that has been introduced at NCC this year. It gives students an insight into the workload and styles of writing that you need to be a university student. I personally think it has helped me because of my sporting commitments in Perth as I am able to do things on Blackboard and can always keep up to date if I am missing classes.
~ Campbell
Personally, I would say it's a great opportunity as it gets us ready for a university level of writing and understanding of the subjects. It also gives us a head start over other students who are thinking of going to university as we learn how to utilise the Curtin database and library. This is the perfect medium between ATAR and General for those looking at going to university and is quite flexible.
