GREaT

Get Real Experience and Try Nursing & Midwifery Program
The GREaT program provides Year 10 students with the opportunity to learn about Nursing and Midwifery via a structured hands on experience in a health care setting.  GREaT provides students with a five-day placement at various public health sites in the metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia. Over 5 consecutive days students will rotate through many areas to find out what it’s really like to be a nurse or midwife and what nurses and what their roles involve.

Sometimes young people disregard the option of nursing or midwifery based on preconceived, and often incorrect, ideas – usually based on what they see on TV. This program provides students access to observe nurses and midwives, who are highly educated health professionals, as they lead the care provided to patients. For more information click here.

This popular and competitive program attracts over 600 applications every year for placements during school terms 2-4. Application dates for this program is released around Week 2 in Term 1 every year and to be considered for the program you must write a 200 word explanation about why you’d like to participate in this program and send this to Miss Broad – VET Coordinator.
Miss Broad is available to answer any questions on the program. Phone: 99200535  Email: kaylla.broad@cewa.edu.au

If you are interested in the program, please be are aware of the following:
  • Only Year 10 students are eligible to participate
  • We are unable to accept late applications
